Meet Your Mesa Leadership Board Member Holly Moseley, Co-Recruitment Chair

Posted on Oct. 3, 2023  /   0

Tell us about yourself and what you do for work?

My name is Holly Moseley, and I am the City Clerk for the City of Mesa. I love to volunteer in my community and join
various yearly committees
to raise funds for nonprofits, create fun for neighbors, or provide services to Mesa residents.
I also serve as an Auxiliary Angel for Oakwood Creative Care.

I am married with four children, three boys, and one girl, all grown. One of my sons will be married this year, and I hope to become a grandma in the next few years! My hobbies include reading and exploring the great outdoors by traveling, camping, hiking, kayaking, etc. I also love socializing with my friends in the many clubs I am active in.

What is your position on the board, and what do you do in your board position for Mesa Leadership?

I am a Co-Recruitment Chair and help to introduce people to the Mesa Leadership Program by creating marketing messages and hosting events to bring Alumni and potential class members together.

I review applications and interview candidates for the next class. Once selected, I welcome the new members and help guide them through the next steps required before class begins.

What attracted you to attend Mesa Leadership, Training, and Development?

I am always trying to better myself and my community. I joined the program to learn more about Mesa and its many organizations and resources and other ways to serve. I also wanted to learn additional leadership skills that would help me in my professional life.

What class year did you graduate?
2022

What was your class project?

We renovated the Child Crisis Arizona Boys Group Home by installing a beautiful, fun backyard where the boys could connect and relax. We also received donations of new furniture inside the home and decorated their bedrooms based on their personal styles and interests.

What leadership principle(s) did you learn from attending Mesa Leadership and still use in your leadership style?

I learned about many helpful tips and best practices, but the lesson that I remember learning most about myself is my need to prioritize better and delegate more. Creating margin in my life is important. Making more time for myself, instead of constantly being busy with work and other activities, is actually more beneficial and productive in the long run.

What would you say if someone asked you about Mesa Leadership?

I always refer people to Mesa Leadership to learn more about personal and professional growth, but also to learn more about what makes Mesa so great. Joining the board as a recruitment officer seemed like a natural fit.

What is a good leader?
A good leader listens to their employees and learns from them just as much as they teach and inspire them. Helping employees to grow is just as important as helping the company succeed.

Is there anything else about Mesa Leadership that you would like to share with us?

All of the board members play a special role in making the program a great experience. We are all passionate about our community, and all who graduate from the program will leave with the same appreciation. Graduates will also leave with several new friends and mentors.
