Meet Your Mesa Leadership Board Member - Sandy Dyk, Tour Chair
- Tell us about yourself and what you do for work?
My name is Sandy Dyk, and I have been in the Senior Healthcare field for over 30 years. My primary focus has been on serving those with Dementia/Alzheimer's and their families; however, I have held a variety of positions over the years helping any individuals however I am able. I am currently the VP of Operations for a local Hospice company, which services the greater Phoenix area as well as both Payson and Prescott. - What is your position on the Board, and what do you do in your board position for Mesa Leadership?
My position on the Board is that of Tour Chair. I look to connect with businesses/organizations within the greater Mesa Community, who can provide opportunities for Mesa Leadership classes to visit and learn more about its role in the Mesa Community. - What attracted you to attend Mesa Leadership, Training, and Development?
I have always loved being able to bring opportunities to others through training and development, and the Mesa Leadership program allows me to do just that while also connecting with well-educated and experienced others. - What class year did you graduate?
I was part of the 2020 Mesa Leadership Class (best class ever!!) - What was your class project?
Our class provided new landscaping and security cameras to Paz de Cristo. We physically laid tons upon tons of river rock to cover the front landscaping of the grounds. - What leadership principle(s) did you learn from attending Mesa Leadership and still use in your leadership style?
To be a leader, you must have followers. To have followers, you must always be willing to roll up your sleeves yourself and build trust and respect amongst your peers. - What would you say if someone asked you about Mesa Leadership?
Great opportunity to not only learn about Leadership and Development but also learn quite a bit about yourself. - What is a good leader?
One who has followers and one who is readily open to learning and growing. - Anything else about Mesa Leadership that you would like to share with us?
Just a great overall experience to dig into the community and better understand the foundation of its businesses and growth.
