Posted on Mar. 28, 2022  /   0

  1. Tell us about yourself and what you do for work?

Connie Bunyard, owner of Valley  Remodeling, I spend time volunteering through different organizations, United Food Bank, Mesa Leadership, Aspire. Our family consists of 7 adult children, 3 grandchildren, and an Amazing husband of 40 yrs. We love to spend our time in the great outdoors. Some of our favorite things to do are hike, boat, and take our jeep out 4-wheeling. At home, I enjoy playing cards, reading, and sewing.

  2. What is your position on the board, and what do you do in your board position for Mesa Leadership?

This year I have been on the recruitment team but am planning on moving over to curriculum. After spending most of the day in class last week, I realize how much I love that classroom time. The synergy is inspiring, and spending time on a regular basis with people of such caliber helps me to be the best that I can be.

  3. What attracted you to attend Mesa Leadership, Training, and Development?

I joined Mesa Leaderdership shortly after I joined the Mesa Chamber. We moved to the area about 3 years ago and immediately joined the Mesa Chamber. While filling out my paperwork, I learned about Mesa Leadership, and I knew right away that I needed to apply for the program. It was the best decision I could have made.
  4. What class year did you graduate?

    2021
  5. What was your class project?

We beautified the front of Paz de Cristo by adding landscaping to the front entrance of their property, providing security cameras as well as giving them a check of leftover funds for them to use as needed.

6. What leadership principle(s) did you learn from attending Mesa Leadership and still use in your leadership style?

One of my biggest takeaways was from something Einstein said: "In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity."  I am thankful for now fully understanding without conflict or difficulty; we can rarely experience the growth we need to be the best we can be.

7. What would you say if someone asked you about Mesa Leadership?

I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to get a greater understanding of how Mesa works and to really get to the heart of the community and the people it serves.

8. What is a good leader?

A good leader knows how to inspire and encourage their sphere of influence. As well as displaying relentless optimism.

9. Anything else about Mesa Leadership that you would like to share with us?

If you're on the fence about applying to Mesa Leadership, just do it! You will then have the opportunity to KNOW what a great place it is that you live and you will be better equipped to help all types of people you meet because you will be familiar with all the programs that are available to help those in our community.
