Meet Your Mesa Leadership Board Member Cheryl Calen, Technology Chair
1. Tell us about yourself and what you do for work.
a) Name: Cheryl Calen
b) Title: Senior IT Developer
c) Employer: SRP
d) Volunteer Positions: Mesa Leadership IT Chair
e) Family & Kids: Husband, Adult Son, Adult Daughter
f) Pets: 2 x 8-year-old Maine Coon cats
g) Hobbies: I am currently growing cherry tomatoes, catnip, and flowers in 3 hydroponics planters.
I like Movies, Resin Pouring, and small craft projects like shadow boxes.
2. What is your position on the board, and what do you do in your board position for Mesa Leadership?
IT Chair, I help with the Mesaleadership.org website and the Basecamp website by updating and publishing
website information and assisting users with access issues.
3. What attracted you to attend Mesa Leadership, Training, and Development?
I originally wanted to attend the Mesa Leadership, Training, and Development to network with people,
see other parts of Mesa, and learn leadership skills.
4. What class year did you graduate? 2019
5. What was your class project? House of Refuge modernize the community center
6. What leadership principle(s) did you learn from attending Mesa Leadership and still use in your leadership style?
A leadership principle I learned from attending Mesa Leadership is to trust my abilities, step up,
and try because many people are willing to help you succeed.
7. What would you say if someone asked you about Mesa Leadership?
It is a great program, a great way to learn about Mesa, to network with people, and a fun way to learn about leadership.
8. What is a good leader?
Someone that others want to follow, a person with a good attitude who participates in getting work done,
and a person who shares recognition.
9. Would you like to share anything else about Mesa Leadership with us?
I am consistently amazed by the enthusiasm of the board and the people in each class.
