- Tell us about yourself and what you do for work.
I am currently the Deputy City Clerk for the City of Mesa, where I support the City Clerk’s Office in managing records, overseeing elections, and ensuring transparency and compliance with public meeting laws. I have been in local government for six years and enjoy working in public service.
- What is your position on the board, and what do you do in your board position for Mesa Leadership?
My position on the board is recruitment co-chair. In my position, I assist in recruiting for the next Mesa Leadership class through community outreach and answering questions regarding the program.
- What attracted you to attend the Mesa Leadership, Training, and Development Program?
As an employee of the City of Mesa, I wanted to connect with leaders across the many sectors of Mesa and broaden my perspective to grow personally and professionally.
- What class year did you graduate?
2024
- What was your class project?
Our class project was updating the patio area of Oakwood Creative Care.
- What leadership principle(s) did you learn from attending Mesa Leadership and still use in your leadership style?
One of the most valuable leadership principles I learned through the Mesa Leadership program was the importance of servant leadership and having a high level of integrity to earn the trust of the public.
- What would you say if someone asked you about Mesa Leadership?
- What is a good leader?
A good leader is a person that demonstrates strong moral values, has a desire to help others, listens, and is adaptable to changing situations.
- Is there anything else about Mesa Leadership you want to share with us?
Mesa Leadership offers valuable insight into a wide range of areas throughout the city, including nonprofit work, public safety, and other city functions. You will be able to cultivate meaningful connections with people from diverse backgrounds and professions.
