1. Tell us about yourself and what you do for work?

I am a married, mother of 4 and grandmother of 11. We have 2 dogs, Maggie and Lola that love to go to Northeastern AZ to hike and run in the wide-open spaces. I love to travel and explore new lands. I work for the Mesa Chamber of Commerce as the Director of Events and Sponsorships.

2. What is your position on the board, and what do you do in your board position for Mesa Leadership?

As curriculum chair, I schedule monthly leadership classes that are part of the Mesa Leadership program. I actively teach and learn leadership principles along with 2 other curriculum board members.

3. What attracted you to attend Mesa Leadership, Training, and Development?

As Program Director, I oversee the program as a whole attend executive board, monthly board meetings and assist in all areas of the program when needed. Mesa Leadership has been active for over 40 years and my interest in attending the program was to learn more about my community and how I can better serve it.

 4. What class year did you graduate?

I am a graduate of the 2018 class.

 5. What was your class project?

Our project was to clean up and create a tranquil and useful space behind the Veterans Resource Center. This space is used by veterans to reflect and come together for BBQ's and fellowship. I am very proud of the space we created and look at it daily on my way into my office.

6. What leadership principle(s) did you learn from attending Mesa Leadership and still use in your leadership style?

What I learned and what I teach in the Mesa Leadership Program is that you are a leader to someone every day. You may not see it or are aware of it, but someone is watching you every single day. What will they see?

7. What would you say if someone asked you about Mesa Leadership?
When people ask me about the Mesa Leadership Program, I say "If you are truly interested in learning more about the community you live/work in and are committed to making a difference in Mesa, then you need to attend Mesa Leadership."

8. What is a good leader?

Well, that is subjective but, in my opinion, a good leader is one who stands in front when going into battle and behind when being rewarded.

9. Anything else about Mesa Leadership that you would like to share with us?

Don't let the opportunity to learn, share, serve, and grow pass you by. Enroll today!
